Password Generator: Create Strong, Secure Passwords

Network & IT

Why Password Strength Matters

Weak passwords are the leading cause of account breaches. According to the UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), "123456" and "password" remain among the most commonly used passwords despite decades of warnings. A strong password is your first line of defence against unauthorised access.

What Makes a Password Strong?

  • Length: At least 12 characters, ideally 16 or more
  • Complexity: Mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols
  • Uniqueness: Different password for every account
  • Randomness: No dictionary words, personal info, or patterns

Password Manager Recommendation

Remembering dozens of strong, unique passwords is impossible without help. Use a password manager (Bitwarden, 1Password, or even your browser's built-in manager) to generate, store, and autofill strong passwords.
