Quote generators are a genuinely useful small utility — for a social post, a presentation opener, or just a moment of daily inspiration — but building one honestly raises a real question most quote sites gloss over: where do the quotes actually come from, and who do you have the right to attribute them to? Many quote collections online freely attribute lines to famous authors, business figures, or celebrities without a reliable primary source, and even when a quote is genuinely something a real person said, reproducing it verbatim and prominently on a website can raise both misattribution risk (a huge number of widely circulated "famous quotes" are misattributed or entirely fabricated) and copyright questions, since many well-known quotations come from books, speeches, or interviews that are still under copyright. This tool sidesteps that problem entirely by using a collection of roughly sixty short original lines, written specifically for this tool rather than sourced from any book, speech, or website, spread across five categories: Motivation, Life, Success, Wisdom, and Humor. None of them are attributed to any real, named person — every quote is either unattributed or labeled "Unknown," the same convention used for genuinely anonymous proverbs. This keeps the tool on safe, clean ground: nothing here risks misquoting a real author, and nothing here reproduces copyrighted material. The interface itself is intentionally simple: a category dropdown filters the pool of quotes (or shows all of them together), a large display area shows the current quote and its category/attribution, and a New Quote button picks another one at random from whatever the current filter allows. To avoid the mildly annoying experience of clicking "new" and landing on the exact same quote you just saw, the random selection deliberately re-rolls if it lands on the currently displayed quote again — as long as the filtered category has more than one quote available, you'll always get something different on each click. Copy and Share cover the two most common things people actually want to do with a quote they like. Copy places the quote text together with its attribution onto your clipboard, ready to paste into a caption, a document, or a message. Share is built with proper feature detection: on devices and browsers that support the Web Share API (`navigator.share`), clicking Share opens your device's native share sheet — the same one you'd see sharing a photo or a link from any app — pre-filled with the quote text, letting you send it directly to a messaging app, social platform, or email without any copy-pasting. On desktop browsers that don't support the Web Share API (which, as of now, is most desktop Chrome and Firefox installations), the button gracefully falls back to copying a pre-formatted share string — the quote plus " — via Toolbox Online UK" — to your clipboard instead, so the button still does something useful everywhere rather than silently failing. No third-party sharing service or API integration is involved in either path; both are entirely client-side conveniences built on standard browser APIs.
